Myrtle Beach September 5, 2008

It's arrival day! We left our house mid-morning to do some last minute errands. For lunch we stopped in Dillon, SC and ate with Nana & Papa. The boys love seeing them and it was on our way to the beach. After lunch, we continued on our drive to the beach. Hurricane Hanna showed us her presence with pounding rains for the rest of our drive. For most of the drive from Dillon to Myrtle Beach, we were driving about 20 MPH because you literally could not see the road. We got to the beach at 4:30 and checked into our room. Once we got checked in, it was time for dinner. Off to the closest restaurant we could find open and uncrowded...Chili's. Not beach related, but it would do and kept us from driving all over the place. After dinner, the boys wanted to swim so we took advantage of the abundance of indoor pools that the resort offered. We could not sit on the balcony in our room because the winds were so strong and the rain was coming straight at us. By 7 pm, the skies were extremely dark, the rain was horrendous, the winds were howling and I was officially scared. I woke up several times throughout the night because the wind was so loud. The power went out twice, but the front desk attendant said the worst of the storm was past us by midnight. Back to sleep......
